2009 Ladies Only Competitions All competitions are ladies only. You have register in order to compete in a competition. Please see the registration page for more information. Directions to all competitions will be provided at the festival headquarters. Nantahala Beginner Playboat Competition This competition will take place at the NOC wave on the Nantahala River. This is a tough hole to play in even for the experienced. If you’re doing flat moves like 360’s, front and back surfing, and learning squirts and enders then this is the competition you want to enter. You get a few practice rides then 3 consecutive rides with coaching from the pros. Do as many tricks as you can. With the help of the pros you will be your own judges. Please meet in the NOC parking lot across the river next to Slow Joe’s Café ready to kayak at 3pm on Saturday May 16th, 2009 for this race. Ocoee Intermediate/Advanced Freestyle Competition If you like semi steep, forgiving holes and are past 360’s and front surfing then this is the competition for you. Hell Hole on the Ocoee River is a big class III+ hole offering up some great play moves if you‘ve got what it takes and you better roll up because the trashy rapid Powerhouse is 3 roll attempts away. The rules are simple and the competition moves really fast. Whoever lands the single biggest trick in 3 rides wins. You will get two practice ride then 3 consecutive rides. No ride to be longer than 30 seconds. The competitors are the judges. Please meet at Hell Hole on the Ocoee River ready to kayak at 9:30am Saturday May16th, 2009 for this competition. Cheoah Chick Boatercross This is by far the most popular event. A 1.7 mile class IV+ head to head race from the last bridge above Bear Creek Falls to the 1st bridge on the lake. The rapids are difficult and continuous until you hit the 100 yard flat sprint across the lake. The fastest time wins. The current record is 15.11 held by Nicki Maletin.
